For many reasons, you may have lost contact with your mom or you may have been adopted and wanting to know if there is a way to find your mom. There are many ways to go about this and some of the easiest avenues to check would be to search online to gather as much information as possible.

How do I find my mom? Start by accessing data from a public records search service. With this method and any others, you would have to have some information like your mother’s name or even a blood family member’s name to start.

This is how to find your mom by using a public records search service to help gather information. Depending on how much information you already have will also determine how long this process might take and how successful it could be.

  1. Gather all the information you can on your mom

    This step would be the most time consuming for the person that was either adopted or abandoned and has had no contact with their mom and was not told about any information about his or her mother. Gather as much information as you can from your adopted parents or from blood relatives.

  2. Use a public records search service

    Once you have a first and last name it is time to use a search service to see if you can find more information on your mom. Run her first and last name through the above service. You can find relatives, contact information like emails and phone numbers, address data, and much more.

  3. Can't find any information try your father's name

    If you cannot find any information or you are not sure about your mother's last name you can try a relative's name or your father's name if you know it.

  4. Making contact

    Please make sure you are ready to contact your mother mentally. Depending on the situation this could be a shocking step that you may not be ready for. Realy think about this step and what you want to accomplish. Remember there is a chance that your mother does not want to have contact with you, you need to be prepared for this.

Either way, the process should be thought out completely before you reach out to your mom.

Some things to keep in mind when you contact your mom.

  • This most likely will be a shock for your mom
  • She may not respond right away to you contacting her
  • You may not get the answers your looking for
  • She may not respond at all to you contacting her

So, let’s say you find your mom and she is responsive and you want to meet. Try doing this in a public place and let someone know what and when you are meeting her. Even though this is your mother and she is blood she can still be a stranger to you if you haven’t had any contact with her within your life.

Remember to take things slow, think everything through before you contact your mom and be prepared for possible rejection. However, finding out where your mom is and having the chance to build a relationship is something that very well could happen if you don’t rush into things.
