Capital Offense
A charge in a criminal hearing which when handed down by the courts is punishable by the death penalty is called a capital offense.
Murder in the first degree could be a cause for a capital offense that could lead to death. This will also depend on the circumstances of the crime. Was the crime against a police officer, multiple victims, children, or repeat offenses will play a role in if someone gets the death penalty.
Another crime could be rape with bodily hard. Typically when a crime is very severe there is no bail set or allowed. This means that the person who committed such crimes must stay in custody and cannot leave. Violent crimes are all too familiar within the United States as gun violence reach all-time highs. These offenses fall under the most severe offenses and the criminals will spend life in prison or receive the death penalty.
